REJECT
2026 · Pekelné Sáně, Kroměříž

Reject is an exhibition in which Ester Parasková abandons serial painting in favor of an expanded drawing installation. The works are executed on fragments of cardboard—flattened boxes and packaging remnants—assembled into wall-based compositions held together with packing tape. This raw, disposable material becomes a crucial carrier of meaning: its anonymity and industrial origin contrast sharply with the precision of drawing and the intensity of applied pigments. The exhibition draws on themes of labor, monotony, and mass production, transforming processes typically associated with banality and repetition into sites of emotional charge and tension. Appropriated animated figures, previously present only as fragments, now appear as stylized types or acting characters. Rather than passive references, they operate as agents within unstable, chaotic scenes marked by conflict and pressure. Reject frames the notion of the defective product as a critical metaphor—an error within an apparently efficient system. The exhibition evokes a latent dystopia, questioning whether disruption or change is possible from within structures that shape and reproduce us. Through material choice, fragmentation, and gesture, Parasková exposes both the fragility of such systems and the potential for their interruption.
